Beginning the first leg of the South Island portion of the trip meant leaving Picton and heading to Blenheim, then out to the eastern coast and south.
Lunch was in Kaikoura, as well as a walk on the rocky beach and some photo opportunities with the local birdlife. Then an uneventful drive to the motel near Christchurch airport. Once I checked in I headed into Riccarton for pizza at Spagalimis.
